Final Fantasy 14 has a collection of daily roulettes under its Duty menu. These roulettes range from expert to leveling, trials, and raids. Many players use the roulettes as a daily method to gain experience and collect tomestones for high-level gear. However, some are locked because they need certain requirements to be met.

One such roulette is the mentor roulette, and some players may have it locked for years or for their entire experience of playing Final Fantasy 14. This is because it takes a lot of effort to unlock. However, mentors that have it often use this roulette as their go-to daily. This is because it has decent rewards, including one of the rarest mounts in the MMO: Astrope.

What Is Mentor Roulette?

Final Fantasy 14: How To Unlock Mentor Roulette (1)

Mentor roulette has the goal to help new players. It pairs experienced max-level players with new ones so that the new can learn from the experienced. However, it is only the experienced players that can access the roulette. They get paired with whatever group has waited for the longest in the queue.

It can put you in any instanced content, excluding only Savage Raids and Coils of Bahamut.

Mentor Roulette Rewards

Final Fantasy 14: How To Unlock Mentor Roulette (2)

While it awards tomestones, mentor roulette does award less than others such as main story and expert. What is most desired by players is its achievement rewards. After completing 50 of these roulettes, the "Mentor" title is given. After 200, you get awarded the Expeditioner's Flyers, which is a hat. At 500 completions, you get the "Mentor of Mentor's" title.

The last two are when you get one thousand and two thousand completions. One thousand will get you a unique clothing item, the Dragon Monocle. At two thousand, you get the two-seater mount, Astrope.

Unlocking The Mentor Roulette

As of patch 5.2, there are two basic requirements to unlock the mentor roulette.

  • You must be a PvE Mentor, also known as a Battle Mentor.
  • You have to have completed all dungeons, raids, trials, and guildhests that can be in the mentor roulette.

While these are only two things to complete, they both take a lot of work.

How To Become a PvE Mentor

Final Fantasy 14: How To Unlock Mentor Roulette (4)

PvE mentors have much more difficult requirements than a trade mentor. To become one, you have to complete these requirements . . .

  • Get 1,500 player commendations.
  • Do one thousand raids, trials, or dungeons.
  • Complete a level 80 tank, healer, and DPS role quest.

These three tasks can be difficult but can be easier the more you love to dive into instances. Grinding Guildhests as a tank or healer is a great way to get commendations. To grind one thousand raids, trials, or dungeons, some players unsync their level and do speed runs of the Bowl of Embers.

Completing Everything That Can Be In Mentor Roulette

Final Fantasy 14: How To Unlock Mentor Roulette (5)

This list is in order of level requirements.
