Who's nominated for a 2025 Oscar? See the full list of nominees (2025)

After a few delays, nominations for the 97th Academy Awards were announced on Jan. 23.

“Emilia Pérez”led the field with 13 nominations, the most ever for a non-English language film. It's nominated for best picture alongside “Wicked,” which picked up 10 nominations, including best actress for Cynthia Erivo and best supporting actress for Ariana Grande. “The Brutalist” also had 10 nominations, while “Conclave” and “A Complete Unknown” each picked up eight.

“Emilia Pérez” and “Wicked” are two musicals competing for best picture — the first time that's happened since 1968 when "Oliver!" and "Funny Girl" were in the category.

Karla Sofía Gascón, who became the first openly transgender to be nominated for an Oscar for her role in “Emilia Pérez,” was delighted with the recognition.

"Thank you so much @theacademy @emiliaperezfilm," Gascón wrote on Instagram.

"Wicked" star Ariana Grande was also thrilled with her best supporting actress nomination.

"Picking my head up in between sobs to say thank you so much to@theacademyfor this unfathomable recognition," she wrote on Instagram, alongside a series of photos, including one of her as a child dressed as Dorothy from "The Wizard of Oz" and a video of her singing "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" as a little girl.

"I cannot stop crying, to no one’s surprise. i’m humbled and deeply honored to be in such brilliant company and sharing this with tiny ari who sat and studied Judy Garland singing Somewhere Over the Rainbow just before the big, beautiful bubble entered. i’m so proud of you, tiny. thank you again, from the bottom of my heart, for this acknowledgement@theacademy."

Of the 20 acting nominations, 13 are first-time Oscar nominees (including Gascón and Grande), while Colman Domingo, who is up for best actor for "Sing Sing," is the only performer who was nominated last year. He was nominated in 2024 in the same category for "Rustin."

The Oscars announcement comes after the nominations were postponed twice due to the Los Angeles wildfires. They were first supposed to be revealed Jan. 17, but they were bumped back to Jan. 19. Then they were moved to Jan. 23. "Wicked" star and “Saturday Night Live” cast member Bowen Yang will join "Saturday Night" star Rachel Sennott in announcing the nominees.

The Oscars, hosted by Conan O’Brien, will be held at the Dolby Theatre at Ovation Hollywood. It will air live March 2 at 7 p.m. ET on ABC and can be streamed live on Hulu.
