Same issue. On Windows 11 (build 22621) Suface Book 2, iTunes 12.13.1.3 from App Store. Using USB-C cable provided with phone by Apple. PC can see iPhone as a drive, but I can't get iTunes to recognize it. Any help would be appreciated.

Are you using the cable that came with the phone?
Not all USB-C cables are created equal. Many inexpensive cables are for charging only and do not carry data.

USB-C vs. USB-A shouldn't matter.
You might want to check what version of iTunes you have. I believe that the Technical Specifications for managing an iPhone 15 using Windows might refer a version that is newer than the one at https://www.apple.com/itunes/ . The link in the iPhone 15 Technical Specifications might lead to the newer version.

Update: I got it working on my end without any software updates. These steps may not be 100%, as I was trying different things but I think the following may help others:
1) Shutdown iTunes
2) Connect iPhone with USB cable
* If prompted to trust connection from either PC or iPhone, accept/authorize.
* to me this also confirms you have a "data connection" and not just a "power/charging connection"
* you should be able to see the iPhone on the PC like a USB flash drive.
3) Disconnect iPhone from the PC (disconnect the cable)
4) Launch iTunes on the PC
5) Connect the iPhone to the PC
* for me I was able to see the iPhone in iTunes and set up my sync process at this point.
Good luck all.

3. iTune hanged at Step 2: Syncing phone
4. Tried using a USB to USB C cable to my laptop and also same problem
5. Re-start both pc and phone, swapped cable etc.... problem still persist
Apple Support, please look into this asap. Thank you.

The original cable can be used for data transfer. If you plug it into a macbook, it'll be able to recognize your iPhone 15 Pro.
The only thing I've yet to try now is to use another computer to try. If it still doesn't detect then I am very sure its an iPhone issue.

Hello, i had the same issue, but i’ve finally found the problem!
The problem was the cable! I was using a USB-C to USB-C of 65W and it just charged my iphone when i plugged on my PC, but when i used my usb-A to usb-C from my Dual Sense it worked normally.
So basically if you have the same issue just try out different cables until it works for you.

What version of Windows are you running? Iphone15 requires Windows 10 or higher according to their specifications.
