You can even consider this a healthy orange popsicle recipe. We use regular yogurt but Greek could easily be substituted in. Homemade Creamsicle Ingredients

There aren’t many ingredients you need to make your own creamsicle popsicle. Most are pantry or refrigerator staples, which means you might already have them on hand!

  • Orange Juice- If you want your orange flavor to really shine, I suggest picking a quality juice. We really enjoy Simply Orange.
  • Yogurt- Vanilla yogurt. This is what helps get you that super creamy popsicle texture.
  • Mandarins- This is more of an optional add-in, but well worth it!
  • Sweetener- Optional, and not one we feel is necessary. But if you are using a super tart juice you may want to taste the liquid before pouring in your mold and adding a spoonful.

What Is The Difference Between A Dreamsicle And Creamsicle

The two classic popsicle flavors are super close as far as flavor. The main difference is that a Dreamsicle is made with milk while a Creamsicle is made with cream. Very close but one has more of a creamy texture while the other has more of an ice pop finish.

Orange Popsicle Recipe Tips and FAQs

  • Use other juice varieties in this creamsicle recipe, like berry, mango, or pineapple for fun flavor twists.
  • A majority of the flavor will come from the orange juice. Make sure you pick a quality brand with a bold flavor. We love Simply Orange.
  • Looking for a thicker pop? Substitute the regular yogurt with Greek.
  • If you’d like a vegan option, substitute the yogurt for full fat coconut milk.
  • Taste test the mixture before freezing. If it needs just a touch more sweetness you can add a tablespoon of sugar or honey.
  • These popsicles will stay good for up to one month in the freezer. After that they tend to get freezer burn and need to be replaced.

How To Easily Get Popsicles Out Of The Mold

There are a few tricks that can help you easily remove ice pops from their molds.

  • Fill a bowl or dish that is at least as tall as your mold with warm water. Make sure it does not cover the top. Place the mold into the warm water for 30 seconds. This should loosen the pops enough to slide out smoothly.
  • Set the ice pops out onto the counter for 5 to 10 minutes. This should help them melt just enough that they will pull right out.

How To Make Your Own Popsicle Molds

No mold? No problem! Here are a few ideas to help you make popsicles with items you already have on hand!

  • Cupcake Tins- Pour the popsicle directly into clean cupcake tins. Freeze 30-40 minutes. Once somewhat solid, but not completely, push a popsicle stick into the center. This will give you a disk like popsicle.
  • Dixie Cups- Following the same method as above, start by pouring the popsicle into Dixie cups that have been placed onto a tray. Freeze 30-40 minutes. Once somewhat solid, but not completely, push a popsicle stick into the center.

These frozen treats are perfect on a hot summer day or night. Three ingredients, wiz ’em up, pour them in, freeze and eat. hard to stop at one, but save some for later, you’ll be glad you did.

This recipe was SO disappointing! The pops turned out tasteless and so sour (even though I added honey). I’m looking for a different recipe.

Hi Sue, did you use greek yogurt? This recipe uses regular vanilla yogurt. Greek yogurt would definitely cause it to be a little sour. Hope you find a recipe that works better for you.
