The 2015 Chevrolet Silverado is a full-size truck that can be found from $18,910 to $38,132. It is a very safe truck, and is capable at towing and hauling with its optional V8 engines.
Class-leading power with a 6.2L V8 and a refined interior make the Silverado 1500 one of the most comfortable trucks on the road.
Weak performance from the base V6 coupled with more mechanical problems than the competition make you think twice about the Silverado.
The Bottom Line
Good ratings from owners and experts alike make the 2015 Chevy Silverado one of the most popular full-size trucks on the market, but be prepared for its higher cost of ownership.
2015 Chevrolet Silverado: Quick Overview
- The 2015 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 series scores average in reliability tests.
- Three engines are available. The V6 is the most efficient, and the 6.2L V8 tows the most.
- Silverado 1500 series ranks third in its class for fuel-economy with up to 18 miles per gallon in the city and 24 on the highway.
- The NHTSA gives the truck a five-star crash test rating.
- The 2015 Chevrolet Silverado is safer and has higher quality fabric and leather options than some trucks, but is not as long lasting.
Positive Owner Reviews
Great vehicle for truck-loving urban cowboy!
This truck rides like a luxury car. The ride is smooth and very comfortable. Plenty of legroom both in the front and rear seats for ash adult to sit comfortably. For a full size pickup truck the gas mileage is fantastic. It averages 15 mpg city and over 22 mpg on the highway. The truck beef is full sized and can handle just about any load with ease.
I love all of the cup holders and the touchscreen stereo. I don't love how much room in the back there is. It is however nice that you can fit 6 people in the truck like a crossover suv.
The heating and air work really well but the seats don't have a lot of space
A truck filled with safety features and comfort for long and short drives
As a big truck, the mileage isn't great, but it also isn't terrible. The truck is very reliable and has a lot of safety features, including grade assisted braking which helps out a lot when driving in the mountains.
Would suggest to anyone who carries a lot of equipment.
Good on gas. Safe for my children to enter and exit. Great storage in the bed area. All safety feature are incredible. Always lets me know when something is wrong with tire pressure or when oil is low. The automatic door locks is my favorite because I don't have to remember to lock when my kids are in the car. The window locks are great so the back windows aren't allowed down unless I want them down.
Quality and comfortable workhorse.
In 5 years I haven't had any performance issues or problems. The inside is both spacious and comfortable, with amenities for any preference. Plenty of power and the gas mileage is not too bad either, all things considered. Smooth ride, with only minimal shaking when driving over 80 mph. Backup camera makes it easy to maneuver in tight spaces.
Truck Saved Not Only My Life, But My Family's Lives TOO
I completely loved my 2015 Chevy Silverado (2WD) LTZ Z71, it was an amazing, safe, reliable, dependable, and was always getting compliments on it. It had a touch screen that was easy to navigate for GPS, music, and phone calls. On the steering wheel there were buttons to control/change the music, answer/make phone calls, and change what I wanted to show on the Driver’s Information Center screen. Only had one major issue with it, around 50,000 miles, the front brake pads were wearing unevenly, the front right outboard pad was almost completely gone (paper thin), while the others still had “a lot of meat on them,” roughly about the same, close to the same thickness as the brand new pads I replaced them with. Around 54,000 miles, it gave its life protecting my family and myself, when we were in a head-on collision. Had we been in any other vehicle, other than a full-size truck, at least one of the four of us would have died. This is why I bought a 2018 Silverado (4x4) LTZ Z71 Midnight Edition, when I was able to walk again, and return to work.
The cup holders are great! We never need a drink carrier.
It is comfortable and roomy. It's much better on fuel than I expected. I love it. The sound system is terrific, its brawny but very luxurious. Great ride and very comfortable. It's very trendy and is able to pull our trailer with no problem. Great tork!
It has a lot of room for being a pickup truck.
Love that my truck is 4x4. That it is Bluetooth compatible. Drives very smooth and the seats are very comfortable. Love how easy it is to adjust the seats especially when your short like me.
Negative Owner Reviews
Where to start with gm lemons burns a quart of oil every 800 miles Chevrolet says it’s normal battery died Chevrolet said it’s not warranted they considered it an accessory alternator died before 50,000 miles air conditioning died 61,000 miles this is the last Chevrolet we will Never own another GM They can keep their Chinese junk oh and don’t forget their junk brake vacuume that cause break failure that gm says it’s only hard pedal
This truck and brand is very terrible. I would tell anyone not to buy it.
This truck has many things wrong with it and we bought it brand new. There are mechanical problems and electrical problems. The lights in the inside of the truck came off and before that stopped working. The radio stopped working and the air conditioning stopped working. The windows barely roll up, they roll up slow.
It is economical and it is roomy. The air conditioner however takes time to cool.
Because I do not like really big truck that I can't get into without help I need a small car like a Ford something that is early to get into and something my kids with be safe in.
Biggest pile ive ever owned
Transmission issues at only 100,000 miles starter went out afm v4 mode is a joke
Owned GM trucks sunce 1980. Hate 2015 GMC 1500 Sierra
Only thing I like is the steering. Two unresolved vibration issues, brakes pulsating, turned front and rear rotors, now at 41000 miles it needs new front brakes. It has towing package and I never tow anything. I got the towing package because my 2001 Jimmy with tow package had 127000 miles on original brakes.I think I'm going to switch to Dodge or Ram what ever they call it now.
AT 66000 miles the engine developed a tick lifter sound. I was scared to drive it to the dealer, so I had to have it towed. The service department told me that a stuck lifter caused a push rod to bend. I could not understand since I have never abused my truck and had the oil changed at the dealership since day 1. I was told that chevy had a 100,000 mile / 5year warranty but my 5 year had expired 14 days before. The dealership told me that it was a defective part and that they have experienced this problem before. GM if you bother to read these complaints, This is something that needs to be addressed. I wish that GM would contact me on this through the dealership in Vincennes, Indiana. If not I guess it is time to go to Ford. By the way due to your defective part it cost me over $2800.
Transmission THE SHAKE
2015 Chevy Silverado LTZ I absolutely love the way it rides, but have had nothing but one issue after another. Started 3 weeks in to owning it. Came out with a cart full of groceries and it wouldn't start. Had to have it towed in. Needed a brand new brain basically for all the electronics. Then at about 4000 miles it began the hard shifting. About 40000 miles it began doing a shake always between 42-60 miles per hour. Now let me tell you I always maintenance my try to the tee. Any time there is an issue I take it to the same dealership and service advisor. They have told me anything and everything and I always let them fix it and pay for it. But nothing fixes what I call the shake. But after reading these reports I now know my problem and it is exactly what I've been telling them for over 6 months. The transmission. Thank you
Very disappointed the transmission went out at 84,000 miles got stuck in the number 4 of the 4/6/8 transmission so we got stuck with a 3,000 dollar bill. So much for dependability. We have always bought the th truck for its reliability and longevity. Of course the company will not stand by its product.

The Chevy Silverado 1500 series will last over 200,000 miles with proper care. Repair Pal estimates it will cost $715 per year to maintain it, more expensive than other full-size trucks.
So far has been very reliable. Only a few minor safety recalls with the current model. Maintenance is easy.
It is in perfect condition. It starts right up every time and it was a lifesaver during the snowstorm we recently had.
It's very reliable drives smoothly shifts great comfortable to ride in no problems out of mine best truck I've had.
So far the 2105 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 has been a reliable vehicle. Any recalls on the Chevrolet Silverado 1500 has been taken care of in a timely manner and have not had problems once fixed. The only problem is the dashboard rattles all the time. The glue must have come unstuck and now every time you go over a bumpy road or hit a pit hole the dash just rattled loudly.
The truck is reliable and I haven't had any problems out of it. I recommend to anyone who is looking for a truck
Ouw air conditioner went out we are thinking something flew up and causing it to have a slow leak we refill with freon and it will last about 3 weeks
No problems. Very reliable. I have had to buy new tires and service it with oil changes and tune ups but no problems. Love my Silverado.
Yes it has been a reliable vehicle. Have had no problems with this vehicle. This vehicle is running very well for me and my husband

The Toyota Tundra is another truck to compare in the class. The Chevrolet is more capable of hauling and towing than the Toyota. Infotainment technology is modern compared to the Tundra. Where the Tundra wins is in reliability and cost of ownership. If you want a long-lasting truck, the Tundra is the way to go, if you need it to work and haul things, then the Chevy is the better choice.

Final Verdict: Is the 2015 Chevrolet Silverado a Good Truck?
Yes, the Silverado 1500 series is a good truck. It scores well in safety tests, and it is a comfortable truck to drive. Where it falls short is in reliability. It just isn’t as long-lasting as some of its competition. The base engine also feels underpowered, so go with one of the V8 options.

2015 silverado is a great mans truck.
Great truck for my needs. I should have got a crew cab with the 6.5 bed. That would've been perfect. The extra cab is too small now that the kids are teens. But overall as long as you keep up with the fluids and regular maintenance this truck is fantastic.

The comfort and features of the Silverado 1500 will make you a fan for life!
I have not experienced any issues with my vehicle. It drives smooth and has great reaction time when breaking. I cannot express enough about the level of comfort the seats have. The extended cab has lots of room and my kids never complain about being uncomfortable. I have 2 large dogs and it is easy to transport them to the groomer and vet by lifting the cab seats. There is lots of storage space in the console and doors. There are 10 cup holders in my truck! One of my favorite features is the button that folds the mirrors in when you are parked. I do not have to worry about someone hitting my mirrors in a parking lot. The radio and speakers work great. I can also use bt to connect my phone so I can use the hands free feature to make a phone call and keep my attention to road. My Silverado has been the best vehicle I have owned.

2015 z71 ltz Silverado 1500 cons that I have.
Love my truck1 t's leather seats/interior, so I find myself always having to clean it properly, so it won't wear out as easily. I find that having to purchase special cleaning products over time are starting to add up making me not wanting to clean it as often as I would like. Additionally I find that the interior gets dust very easily, even after I change both of my air filters, such as the air intake filter and my cabin air filter.
Desta A on June 17, 2021
Chevy truck with extended cab.
Runs great and is good on gas. Only problem is that the seat belt comes out of the top of the seat and is so tight you can barely move. Love the heated seats and room in the back for shopping. Love the four wheel drive option for getting through the snow in winter.
Katlyn B on June 16, 2021
Great vehicle for long road trips, great towing and mileage. Comfy.
I like the features that come with this vehicle especially the apple car play. This makes long road trips more enjoyable with the built in screen providing directions while rocking out to your favorite tunes. This vehicle also has great mileage and the ability to go long distances with few stops, even while towing heavy loads. This vehicle also has nice interior and is comfy to be in any time of the year and any place.
Sydnee G on June 6, 2021
I absolutely love it, minus known issues.
We bought our vehicle used with 98k miles on it. We have had to put a lot of money into it since buying it. Yes, maintenance work is needed on all vehicles, but the 2015 Silverado is well known to have issues with the a/c and other issues. I love the truck and enjoy driving it. Wish it weren't as much of a money pit.
Robyn H on June 6, 2021
Great truck overall. Only issue is the ac condenser went out at 3 years old.
Only problem I have with this vehicle is the a/c condenser went out when it was only 3 years old. To have it fixed it's a $180 part but they have to take apart the whole front clip to get to it. For $1200+. Other than that great truck, hauls trailers great. Overall great truck.

2015 Chevy Silverado, more than a truck!
No issues, great truck with car-like ride. Comfort in front seats and crew cab seats, even on long rides of 5 or more hours. Highly reliable, regularly maintained, great gas mileage from a v8, with automatic v4 shifting on highway driving. I will only own Chevrolet products!
Andrea A on May 25, 2021
I love my Chevy. Very dependable vehicle with many extra features.
The only problem I have had is my radio freaks out and jumps from one station to another or jumps to the clock, map or other functions on the radio it also ask what do I want it to do. Get good gas mileage on the highway. Love the heated seats in the winter time. It rides really well as far as bumps in the road and the handling in general. Love that if you have low tire pressure it tells you which tire and what the pressure is. You can fit 6 people comfortably, has plenty of cup holders, and it could use a few more plug in for phone chargers the one thing I love is it has an extra box under the arm rest that you can lock valuables in if need be.

Chevy Silverado 1500 lt review.
I love my truck. It rides very smooth and seems to get better gas mileage than I was expecting. The only downside is the package I bought does not have leather seats but it is not too bad. I also love the touch screen radio and Bluetooth calling features.
Allie L on May 17, 2021
Chevy Silverado ltz truck.
We do not really have any issues with it. We keep up with the maintenance like one should. And it is well driven in town and long distance. We have some extra features like heated and ac seats. Bed cover brush guard. We added some aftermarket stuff to help with performance and gas mileage like a bed cover. Performance brakes.

Chevy Silverado comfort and style.
The Chevy Silverado extended crew cab is very comfortable for traveling and conveniently higher on the road for visual aptitude. I would highly recommend this vehicle for those who have to store items or haul them to work and other places. Having Bluetooth features is great for playing music and videos from mine or my husband’s cellular devices on long and short road trips with our child.

Chevy Silverado comfort and review.
This is an awesome truck with plenty of room! I put new tires, wheels, and a lift kit. I highly recommend the Chevy Silverado’s. I will get another Silverado when it is time to get a new vehicle. The inside is plenty spacious for multiple people. Get you one!

Detailed description of my experience owning my 2015 Chevy Silverado.
I bought my truck used and have owned it for two and a half years. I have not have any issues with it since. I love owning a truck so much more than any other vehicles I have owned before. Very comfortable and updated vehicle. Have been a very satisfied customer of my Silverado truck.
Hunter D on May 8, 2021
Benefits of the z71 package.
My truck has a lot of great features. I have the z71 package on it which includes running boards, 18 inch wheels, and a light bar on the back of it. The only downfall I have about my Silverado is that it absolutely drinks fuel, and I don't really drive it that hard. However, on the interstate it rides like a dream.
Joe B on May 2, 2021
It is great no regrets here.
No problems. It is great. I love it. Everyone loves it. Very happy with it. Colors good rides good, feels good. Heat works windshield wipers work tires spin, horn honks it is great.Shiny, ac works, it is big, holds my things, cup holders are good, thank you.

Problems with the Chevrolet 2015 navigation system.
Only real issue that I have is the navigation does not seem to be too reliable. Compared to google maps. I have updated it once before but still always seems to give a longer route compared to google maps. It would be a wonderful improvement if the navigation system would update automatically.
Karen B on April 9, 2021
Dislikes about the Silverado.
The 2015 Chevy Silverado has a clunking sound when the transmission is shifted. When traveling either up or down a mountain is the most noticeable. There were several recalls on this model truck. When taking the truck on for the recall, the tech told us there were complaints about the noise, but was told it was a normal sound.
Kevin W on April 9, 2021
My Silverado that I drive each day and basically live in.
None to know of at this date. It has been a good vehicle. I have a recall for a brake issue. Plenty of rear room and the power in the engine is nice. I believe I would buy another if I chose to but I would get leather seats because these cloth seats stain too easily.
Mary H on April 5, 2021
Chevy Silverado 1500 is amazing.
I love my truck. It is big enough for my entire family. The ride is comfortable, heaters are amazing. I would recommend it to anyone who lives out in the country. My radio comes in clearly, and has Bluetooth capability. Silverado has always been very high on my list but this truck pushes them to the top.
Eric W on April 1, 2021
Down hill descent control works amazingly!
My 2015 Silverado has all of the power I need. I love the compartments on the interior, especially the double glove box and the under seat compartment beneath the middle front seat. I do wish that it had a cup holder that came out of the dash or slide out from the bottom of the middle seat for when we have the middle seat armrest up. The down hill descent control has really impressed me navigating down steep slippery slopes. It keeps the speed constant and keeps the truck travelling in a straight line.

2015 Silverado is good for the workman or the everyday man
My 2015 Silverado is great in almost every aspect. But there are something that I don't like. First off there is too much chrome on the front of the truck. At roughly 40 thousand miles I had issues with a bent lifter in the engine with caused some performance issues. But other than that it's been a strong dependable motor. I wish the throttle had a better response time to it. The interior is comfortable and it does look good. The radio, ac controls and everything is very user friendly.
Kassaundra M on March 26, 2021
Decent overall truck overall I am satisfied.
It's a decent truck overall. There may be a few kinks here and there but I am sure that is with every car. It gets you where you need to get going with no hassle. I would definitely recommend it a friend of mine. It's a nice little truck if you ask me. But that is just my opinion.
Tim L on March 25, 2021
Most comfortable ride out of the Silverados.
The truck is comfortable and reliable. The only problem I have with it is the transmission has some minor issues. Nothing that needs to be fixed, but the gear change is odd and sometimes causes the truck to have a jerking motion. The extended cab is nice, but the back seats are small for a grown person to sit in back. Great work truck.
Alyssa R on March 24, 2021
It is a truck that is not afraid to get used.
Better gas mileage than the previous truck. Smaller gas tank though. Much smaller cab but bigger bed.
Natasha B on March 23, 2021
Needs more room in the back seat
Dependable vehicle the only thing about the pickup is when bought it we should have chosen a bigger cab there isn't enough leg room the back I feel trapped when I am sitting back there. When we decide to buy another we will get crew cab for the leg room

My truck is a 2015 red Chevy Silverado.
This truck is always dependable and good on gas considering it power. My Silverado tows much better than the 2011 f150 I owned several years ago. Also, this vehicle is rides quotes and rarely needs to be worked on in the garage. I would highly recommend this truck to anyone looking for a new vehicle.

No complaints,.. I love my car.. Easy to drive.. Fast and easy.. Beautiful color.. Very tough.. Good for winter season.
Paul K on March 20, 2021
I love the radio interface and screen. Easy to navigate it. Good music.
Excellent interior. Texas edition. Could use a better alarm. Sound is good. Way too many safety recalls though. All pick ups should be bed lined also as a free perk. Nobody likes a scratched up truck bed. . Engine run quiet, and has good power. Not sure why they make pickups that are not four wheel drive. I do not need it per se, but I would use it if I had it. Especially in ice road conditions.

Bronze Chevy Silverado dream truck.
Truck has ran well for 130k miles. Just had to replace ac but that is the only work done on the truck in 5 years. The cab is incredibly comfortable and drives really well. Minimal issues and still looks great. I can rely on my truck to get me from point a to point b without a second thought.

My Chevy Silverado is my favorite truck.
I have a 2015 Chevy Silverado. I have enjoyed it immensely since the day of purchase. The features go above and beyond what’s necessary. The drive is unbelievably smooth. It is extremely comfortable on long trips. It has the power I need to tow my trailer. The added under seat storage is immensely helpful. I wouldn’t trade my truck for anything else.

The green machine! Well that is what I call her.
This is my first truck and I absolutely love everything about it. So far I have had zero issues with it and it is just under 90,000 miles. When the time does come to get another truck you can bet I am going with another Silverado! Hoping it'll still be around for my son!

The reliability of Chevy products.
Like the reliability. Dislike the switching back and forth from v8 to v4. It jerks when it is switching and I do not think it saves much gas.

My vehicle is very comfortable, great on gas and has plenty of power for the pulling of campers trailers or other vehicles out of the mud the air works great the paint stays clean the huge side mirrors allow me to be able to see great backing up. It is a. Very fine looking vehicle also that helps with the ladies.

My rolling man cave: the Silverado.
I really like the versatility of my Chevy truck. The interior is plush and although I wish it did have some features I cannot complain about that because they are available but I purchased used and looked for a balance of features vs. Price. Buying used does have it is advantages. I was able to get it with some addons that I would have had to purchase anyway.

Vehicle performance very good. Does get a bounce to it once in awhile at highway speed. Very comfortable vehicle very nice cab. Love the screen in it. Never had any major issues with vehicle have been happy with it. Could make plastic covers underneath heavier duty or metal.

My Chevy Silverado pick up is a very reliable vehicle.
I have had my Chevy Silverado pickup truck for over six years and I love it. I can always rely on it to be ready to do all the work I need to have done. I can use it from doing grocery shopping to hauling lumber and plywood for my household projects. Other than changing the oil I have had very little maintenance on it.

The body is nice. It's fantastic for road trips or moving. Tons of space and an easy ride.
Michelle A on February 26, 2021
It is spacious. I love the backup camera and being able to haul what I need.
I believe it is pretty reliable. The only problem that I have experienced is with the transmission. It tends to slip on occasion. I believe this is an ongoing issue with gm vehicles as I had a previous truck that I traded due to the same issue, and the transmission went out at under 20, 000 miles.

Comfortable seating horrible front end.
I have had lots of front end problems. It has been in the shop 10 times for various reasons from the tie rod to tires rubbing on the bumper. It rides rough. You can hear outside noise. However, its interior is all leather with heated seats and is very comfortable.

Very dependable rides real well very easy to run, not too cheap to run about 18 miles to a gallon. I love the comfort of the ride has all the bells and whistles all the electronic gadgets. Very good on the winter driving has four wheel drive plenty of room in cab and also the bed and the truck looks good.

Best ever truck. I really love guys.
I love my truck. It just needs to be more safe to drive on snow. The ac unit is strong and best ever. It is very smooth riding. It has comfortable seats. Looks good when you are driving. I would not trade my truck for anything. The reverse has a camera which really comes in handy on driving in small areas as to not hit another car or truck.

2015 Chevy Silverado ltz. Runs smooth a lot of power.
This truck is very well built with a ton of power having a 5.3 v8 engine the doors in the rear open fully back for easy access and the bed of the truck is 6 ft plenty of space. The tow package is excellent and the truck runs smoothly. It has on star feature with auto start remote there is also security alarm. It does well on has for a v-8. Off road tires allow for smooth ride when on grass or in dirt or mud.
