The first national spelling bee was conducted in 1925, and thousands of American kids compete in it each year. Winners of school spelling bees often advance to the local spelling bee competition before competing in the national spelling bee. Winning spelling bees is more than just chance. Winners begin studying for the contest years before they participate.
Spelling bees, unsurprisingly, elicit a wide range of emotions. Emotions might range from cries of delight to heartbreaking sorrow, from participation nervousness to enthusiasm, from time passing to the wait for the official pronouncer to exclaim "YES! That is correct." Phew!
English is the language that has the most words. According to the Oxford Dictionary, it has almost 200,000 terms. English is a global language with a large vocabulary that includes many borrowed terms from other languages. As a result, keeping up with new terms and their spellings has proven difficult.
Even if they appear to be simple words, some are difficult to spell. It might be difficult to remember them among all of the other terms.
